To prep for the holidays, I took on both a full guest room transformation and a simple master bedroom spruce up.

I partnered with The Home Depot to transform my spaces with some amazing home decor picks. Did you know they offer home decor online? Including products like bedding, furniture, decor and more.

I chatted about this refresh a while back in episode 17 of the Make Space Podcast, I had my eye on some of these pieces then and they seriously were so much more amazing in my space than I planned! Most everything I chose came from either the StyleWell brand or the Home Decorators Collection.

guest room makeover

I'm hosting Christmas at my house this year, and to do that I kinda need a guest bedroom. My goal for the guest room was to create a space that's not only cozy for my guests, but also offers a lot of options.

I started with basically and empty room and two XL twin beds which can be pushed together to create a king. This gives me optionality for hosting different guests.

On my list of things to snag from The Home Depot was bedding for a king bed, bedding for two XL Twin beds, accent furniture like nightstands and additional seating, and some additional lighting for the space.

I worked on 3 DIY projects for this space — a painted accent wall, a huge DIY headboard, and building some floating shelves. These projects were fairly involved so I'll be doing separate tutorials for those soon.

For furniture, I shopped for pieces that could either fold away — like the StyleWell tri fold mirror that I used to hide the internet boxes / cords in the closet — or pieces that could be moved easily — like the vanity stools from the Home Decorators Collection that I picked to provide extra seating or be used as a luggage rack.

For bedding, I picked some amazingly soft flannel sheets from StyleWell in a subtle holiday print + a plush striped flannel comforter (the fabric is SO soft) to style the king bed. I LOVE the print on these sheets! The soft green color is festive but subtle and the little red dots have a holly berry vibe. The comforter pairs perfectly with these sheets since it has a stripe with the same soft green color — pairing these two pieces is a perfect way to achieve a mixed print vibe that's not too busy.

When the room is arranged for two twin beds, it has some warm but breathable white flannel sheets, Egyptian cotton duvet covers that are amazingly smooth + silky, and some cotton twin blankets from StyleWell with a chic herringbone knit texture.

primary bedroom refresh

I wanted to take the time to give our primary bedroom a little spruce up before the holidays. With the business of holiday activities and hosting holiday, I wanted to create a space that felt fresh and cozy to give us an escape from the holiday bustle.

My goal for the space was to cozy up the bedding, add some decor elements, and replace our existing dresser — this chalk painted beauty doesn't function well and I wanted a piece with some larger drawers to maximize storage.

My perfect formula for styled bedding that pops is to pick a pattern, add a pop of color, and anchor it with a neutral. I chose this luxurious velvet quilt as a holiday pop of red, then added these StyleWell plaid flannel sheets for a cozy winter vibe — anchored by my existing white comforter. The quilt is super soft to the touch and has a great level of plushness that makes it cozy but not too thick.

I replaced our dresser with this gorgeous patina finish dresser from the Home Decorators Collection. The finish on this dresser is perfect — it's got a midcentury modern vibe and the diamond detail on the front makes such a great statement.

I also added this cozy oversized throw blanket to the chase chair in my corner. It's reversible with a plush side an a sherpa side. I picked a neutral khaki, but it also comes in some festive colors + prints.
