Fall Street Style: Fall Color Tips
Forget everything you know about fall style...ok well maybe not everything, but at least a few things when it comes to colors and prints. It's time to go easy on those browns, navys, and maroons and grab some blush-colored pieces to mix into your fall wardrobe. Light pink isn't just for spring - in fact, it's one of the top picks in the fall color palette. fall street style
Blush is the perfect compliment to most all of the classic fall colors, and gives you a more subtle option if you don't feel your best in the traditional deep fall hues or brighter tones like reds and oranges.
The Velvet Trend
This trend was a top pick last season, and it's making a full return for a second round as one of the top looks for fall 2017. We shouldn't be surprised, velvet had it's start as early as the 1600's and has been waxing and waning in and out of the style spotlight ever since.
Don't be fooled though, every time velvet comes strutting back on to runways and then stores it reinvents itself with a modern take. This season, we're lo0king for more chic velvet pieces like dresses, ruffled skirts, and mixed material tops. Not only that, set your eyes on bold and fun colors like blues, yellows, and, of course, blush pink.
Floral Duster
This is the year not to fear fall floral. Floral prints are a breath of warm, summery air for fall and winter wardrobes.
The trick to fall florals is finding one with deeper undertones like navy or maroon. Pops of orange and deep red in addition to more pastel colors like light pink help give the print balance and creates a seamless fit into winter wardrobes.
If you check out the abstract floral pattern on this duster, you'll notice it checks all of these boxes. It still has the light and fun vibe of floral but with pops of oranges and navy undertones, it could blend in perfectly if worn over a classic maroon turtleneck or army green chunky knit sweater.
Street Style
The main thing about street style in NYC during fashion week is that it's everywhere. Walking around outside before and after the shows was highly inspirational for my wardrobe and I found my adventurous side running wild with new ideas about how to style the many existing pieces in my closet. Fashion is a sort of creative expression that can't be matched. Its with us in daily life, needs no words to convey a feeling and vibe. When I captioned a photo of this outfit for Instagram I said,
"Fashion is most often found strutting down a runway, but style finds you on the street.
Fashion is the art of designing the clothes, but style is the art of living in them. I was immensely impressed with the designs on the runway, which I expected I would be. What I didn't expect was how in awe I would be of all the creativity around me through the pieces people chose to put together and the ways in which they styled them.

About the look
This velvet wrap top is made of beautifully crushed blush velvet and has a peak-through chiffon layer which adds dimension and personality. The back has a tie right below the neckline. It's fairly fitted with a perfect v-neck. The soft velvety texture is a perfect contrast for the sleek and silky look of the duster. Lined with a drawstring waist, this duster jacket has a perfect fit that hits right below the knee. Some of my other favorite features, besides the amazing pattern, are the pockets and side slits.
Since the velvet and duster combo is the main focus of this outfit, I paired it with some light shredded boyfriend denim for a balanced feel and casual look. I had to cuff it to show off these shoes a little more. They're interchangeable: letting you swap out the straps to dress them up or down. I finished off the look with some thin hoop earrings with a pearl accent.
