diy patio makeover before and after featured by top US home blogger, Never Skip Brunch

patio makeover

This patio refresh pepped up my sad patio with added functionality, some subtle pops of color, and amazing texture.

I started by swapping the cushioned loveseat out for two adirondack chairs — since these dry faster there would be no more soggy cushions ruining the party.

I then added an outdoor rug to give the space a pop of color and a cozy feel. The rug is quick-drying and will make the space more comfy for bare feet.

Next I added in a set of stacking coffee tables. The varied heights mean plenty of space for swapping in tabletop elements as needed. I created a tabletop planter fire pit as a focal point for now, and the double table means there is still space to serve up snacks or set drinks.

A side table between the chairs add extra functionality and I included a teak potting station as a versatile piece of furniture we can also use as a drink serving station.

This space needed shade — especially in the evenings — so I styled in a tilting umbrella that's lightweight enough it can be easily moved throughout the day as the sun shifts. I love the texture the fringe trim gives and the light and airy feel of the white canvas.

To complete the space, I included a knit pouf for extra seating and as a footrest, some outdoor pillows for some more texture and color, outdoor lanterns with battery-powered flicker candles, and a couple plants as finishing touches.
