Day Trip to Breck
I was raised in a small town, but it didn't take long for me to call the city home. One of the things I love most about living in Denver is being able to take a scenic day trip to a nearby mountain town.
This trip to Breck was initially part of a collaboration with Thrillist all about fall day trips to take around Denver, but I grabbed a couple blogger friends and connected with a couple amazing local brands so that I'd be able to share a little more in-depth look at some of the amazing places this town has to offer. We grabbed a car and headed off on our day trip, making sure to drive through Loveland Pass for some gorgeous mountain views.

VINTAGE SWEET & CHIC
First on the list was doing a little shopping at some of the local spots. We popped into Vintage Sweet & Chic and I was blown away by the aesthetic and pieces I found. From luxury vintage furs, to fun and fashion forward fall essentials, to gorgeous accessories crafted by local artisans, the shop was beautifully curated to offer a little bit of something for everyone. We spent a few hours styling some fall outfits, trying on jewelry, and ooh-ing and ahh-ing over all the different chic finds.
I've always believed that curating a boutique is an artform, and Katie, the founder and owner, does this task exceptionally well. I was really drawn to the balance between luxury and boho, and the way the shop seemed to sweep me away with a sense of adventure in every new treasure I found. I could see myself grabbing a warm coffee after a morning on the slopes and getting lost all over again in this shop. If you've never been in, I recommend giving their Instagram feed a scroll for a little preview of what awaits you on your next visit.
I brought home the most gorgeous black and white quilted jacket, which has already made appearances in my NYFW street style looks and will be seen in so many more of my cold weather looks to come.
Other than that, it's impossible for me to pick a favorite piece, but some notable ones are the gorgeous turquoise rings from local designer Katie Pickens, a mint off the shoulder cosy which is perfect for chilly weather & amazingly soft, and the gorgeous handmade macrame selection that made me want to snag a piece for most every room in my house.
The shop beautifully showcased some incredible local vendors which made shopping small and supporting local businesses feel even better. breckenridge things to do this weekend
Lunch at The Crown
Shopping bags in hand, we walked next door for a casual lunch at The Crown. I hadn't been before, but it was a favorite spot for my blogger friend Brennan who came with us on our day trip adventure. She had taken some adorable engagement photos there back in December when it was perfectly decorated for the holidays.
The space is warm and inviting, with comfy chairs, a fireplace, and a range of sips and snacks – whether you're feeling some fresh coffee or a bloody mary. I ordered the latter, along with the Lincoln sandwich. I mean no exaggeration when I say that it was the best sandwich I've ever had. We sat on the patio for lunch since the weather was cool but not cold, then moved inside to a window booth to chat over some coffee and dessert. We talked blogging, photography, and before long I had found my new favorite corner in Breck.
What I'm Wearing
I went uber casual for our daytrip so that I'd be comfortable for the drive. I chose an olive bodysuit, my favorite jeans, and the best ever peep toe transition booties from TOMS. The day started off pretty chilly but warmed up to the comfortable high 60's.
As always, You can shop this whole look via the VENNDY widget below.
