This is Episode 02 of my new series, MAKE THIS!
Season 01, YARN IT is all about yarn. In Episode 01: ULTIMATE TASSEL TUTORIAL — I showed you the 4 best ways to make tassels + how you can turn a looped tassel into a super cute keychain.
Today we're making a super cute boho fringe basket! This DIY is beginner-level easy and the perfect way to spice up a basket to add a little personality, texture, and color to your space.
Fringe can have a clean and crisp look if you choose to use yarn that is all the same color and texture.
For a more Boho vibe, opt for yarn in a variety of textures & colors to create diversity and visual interest. I used three different colors — mustard yellow, light blue, and white — and different sizes of yarn to mix textures. I also added in some macrame cord for a little more coarse texture.
Un-braiding or un-twisting some of the pieces adds even more texture and variety. You can untwist all the way up the strand, or just a portion of it.

[checklist-box title="DIY Boho Fringe Basket" ]
- Yarn — 2-3 different colors / Textures
- Macrame Cord
- Piece of Bendable Wire -3-4" long
p.s. I love this Fray Block to keep the ends of my yarn from fraying
Creating the fringe is pretty simple. I used my wire to create a "needle" for my yarn by folding it in half around the middle of a piece of yarn.
I threaded it through the wicker in my basket, created a loop, pulled the ends through, and then pulled to tighten.
After my fringe was looped on, I trimmed it in a diagonal line to add a little geometric moment to my fringe.
