There's nothing better than snuggling up under a blanket with a warm delicious drink...spiked, of course.
When it comes to the holidays, there are so many delicious cocktails to create, but my favorite has to be this cozy sweater weather cider with an adult twist. I may be partial, but I think it's the best holiday cocktail. First, I have to share the story about how it came to be, then we'll dive in how to make it a holiday tradition of your own.
P.S. I know, isn't this sweater weather mug adorable? It was part of our holiday gift guide this year and we're obsessed.
The Tale of Holiday Cider
It was not so long ago, in a downtown Denver apartment that the preliminary batch of Sweater Weather Cider was made. Mind you, this was a previous and unadapted version, and it was much, much stronger. At this time the title was something more like "Blackout Cinnamon Apple Cider."
The occasion was our very first corporate holiday party our first year out of college. We didn't quite understand yet that this was not an event that needed a pre-game, so pre-game we did. We gathered our barely post-college friends and their acquaintances and sipped this cider - glass after glass, because it's dangerously delicious - for a good hour before walking a couple blocks over to the corporate party.
Luckily, there was a photo booth to capture many of the shenanigans that we didn't remember and there was ample spinach artichoke dip to reheat as a post party snack after we bumbled home. T'was a fun night over all, but the "Blackout Cinnamon Apple Cider" needed a little more work - a little adaptation to take it from a college-era much to strong punch, to a delicious holiday party pleaser.
Your new favorite Cinnamon Cider with a Boozy Twist
Through a night of trial and error, measuring and winging it, and staying up a little too late, my lovely husband helped me adapt this recipe.
Time to mix up possibly the best holiday cocktail you've ever had. Warm some cider, give these ingredients a swirl, and discover a new holiday favorite.
