Anniversary Weekend at the St Julien
M y idea of the perfect romantic weekend is a getaway that feels remote and quiet, but is filled with amazing food, a full spa day, and a gorgeous patio to sip wine on and enjoy the weather. The hubs and I are huge fans of any sort of patio happy hour and love to be pampered with a spa day.
You may remember when the Jill's - the lobby restaurant - kindly hosted my blogger babe C.J. and I for a 4-course vegan dinner which we shared via stories on Instagram. The food was ah-mazing, and the lobby was absolutely gorgeous. Rich and I decided our anniversary getaway would be a weekend trip around Denver so we could take a relaxing drive and not have to deal with flights. We looked into a couple places, but then the St. Julien came to mind as the perfect spot - and it was.
W e kicked off the weekend with a late lunch at Jill's which was absolutely amazing for the second time. They had so many amazing gluten free options which was amazing since many spots that offer gluten-free still do it in a way that feels like an afterthought. Since it's not a preference, it was so great to have so many options for amazing dishes. After lunch, we took a stroll down peal street and popped into a few shops before stopping at the Tahona Tequila Bistro for a couple margs. We're huge tequila people and the open air front patio was the perfect place to grab a drink.
We decided to move the party back to the St. Julien lobby and sat at a gorgeous table next to the giant windows with the prettiest mountain view. The patio was a popular place for happy hour and live music kicked off to add to the relaxing but upbeat atmosphere. Since we'd been snacking on small plates all evening, we skipped a sit-down dinner and went out for a night on the town. We opted for room service both mornings for breakfast. Between the slight hangover and not being a morning person, breakfast in bed was my perfect choice.
O ur spa experience was incredible. After a lazy morning, we each started the afternoon off with a St. Julien scrub which left me feeling relaxed and my skin amazingly soft. The spa lounge is co-ed, which was great for a romantic weekend since we could spend time together as we took a dip in the hot tub and waited in the lounge between our couples massage.
As a girl who loves snacks, I will say that the snack situation in the lounge was a little lacking compared to some of my go-to spas, but the spa concierge will order food for you that you can eat in the lounge if that's something you're looking for. We didn't take advantage of this because we had just an hour between our scrub and massage. The massage was amazingly relaxing. After freshening up, we kicked off the evening back on the patio with a couple glasses of pinot grigio.
T he stay was very pleasant. We opted for a room with a balcony, so we could take in the view, which did not disappoint. The St. Julien is nestled against the mountains in Boulder which make for a great balcony view. The photos of me in my fave Express romper were taken on the patio.
I was very happy with the service, for the amount of time that we spent in the room, the fact that we got both maid and turndown service each day without seeing anyone was pretty impressive. Plus, they left some amazing chocolate covered Oreos on our pillows each night which was a sweet end to the evening.
